Une installation pour les 10 ans du cinéma Oblò

A l’occasion des célébrations des 10 ans du cinéma Oblò, le Tokyo Data Collective présentera une installation en collaboration avec Antoine Andrié, Nicola Sartorio et Adriane Morard. Cette intervention plastique digressive et luminescente sera visible tout au long des trois jours que durera ce petit festival. Le collectif exploitera et prolongera le fabuleux paysage souterrain situé sous l’avenue de France et y conviera ses invités : les grooms fantomatiques d’un hôtel de haut standing, de joyeux cafards qui brillent dans la nuit et un pauvre poulpe bien assoupli.

L’Oblò est un cinéma indépendant lausannois dont la programmation, autrefois axée principalement sur le cinéma expérimental au sens strict, s’est aujourd’hui ouverte à des films plus abordables pour les profanes, que ce soit de la fiction ou du documentaire. Lieu incontournable pour les amateurs de cinéma de Suisse romande, on peut également y assister à des conférences, débats, performances, etc., souvent en lien avec d’autres associations, structures militantes ou collectifs artistiques. L’oblò définit sa vocation en ces termes : “ (…) présenter au plus large public possible, sur la base de principes politiques et éthiques, des films sortant du circuit commercial habituel: documentaires, courts métrages, films d’animation, films expérimentaux, films à petit budget. Il entend par ailleurs donner une place particulière aux films suisses, qui rencontrent souvent de la difficulté à être diffusés.”
L’Oblò a également développé son pôle musical au travers d’Oblò sonic, structure qui organise de nombreux concerts dans des styles très variés, avec notamment de fortes composantes noise et expérimentale.

Les samedi 12 et dimanche 13 octobre aura lieu au théâtre 2.21 (à Lausanne) la VIIe convention d’éditions indépendantes. Parmi les propositions culturelles essaimées par l’association Kabak à  Lausanne, la convention, au fil de ses sept éditions, est devenue un rendez- vous attendu de la scène romande de l’édition indépendante. Affiches, livres, fanzines, pochettes de disque ou autre imprimés édités de manière artisanale, à tirage limité. En marge d’une impression de masse dominée par l’exigence de rentabilité économique, la convention d’éditions indépendantes accueille éditeurs, éditrices, graphistes, illustrateurs, illustratrices, ateliers d’impression et labels de musique, tous et toutes investis dans des projets d’édition à petite échelle. En promouvant une autre façon de faire, intégrant tout ou partie des étapes de création, de production et de diffusion, l’édition indépendante contribue à défendre l’autonomie des pratiques face à une marchandisation de plus en plus marquée. Privilégiant la logique de création à la logique marchande, elle devient l’espace choisi pour la publication d’un catalogue critique de textes incitant à la réflexion et bousculant l’ordre intellectuel et politique dominant. La VIIe édition de la convention présente la production créative et hors standard de différents collectifs issus de Suisse et de pays voisins. L’événement se veut participatif et donne l’occasion d’échanger avec les artisans et artisanes de l’édition, de s’essayer aux techniques d’impression de linogravure ou d’une presse typographique, de participer à l’édition en live d’un contenu ou encore de s’immerger dans certains des livres présentés en assistant aux lectures publiques qui en seront données.

On the 12th and 13th of October at Théâtre 2.21 (Lausanne / Switzerland) will be a meeting of independant editions, fanzines and collectives. These will present their work and sell art and craft books, booklets, posters and disc editions. There will also be concerts and talks.

So why are we talking about the LUFF on our blog? Because we will be present during not just one evening; not just one day, but the whole festival. For a week, we are preparing an installation, but also performances with the collective Littera Ex-Machina. http://litteraexmachina.wordpress.com

SILLA, a kinetic, acoustic and interactive sculpture.

October in approaching, so is the two month Residence at PLATOON Kunsthalle. We’re setting up everything to make SILLA possible, it’s will be really amazing if the next two weeks are as good as the last few ones.

Now what is SILLA?

A floating matrix of bright white LED lights – each of them having its independent movement and height – hangs to the ceiling of the space, offering an impression of a big cushion floating in the air. To enable new lectures of the given informations, an sharp tridimensional structure made of mirrors will lay on the floor below the installation.

The sound universe, made of avant-garde sound design combined with traditional musical elements, will be played on a surround system, helping to create a total immersion for the audience.

A tactile 27 inch terminal will be the interface creating communication between the public and the installation. Users will be an active part of the installation, influencing parameters such as light, positions, and sound in an intuitive and playful manner, becoming actors for a certain time.
Most of the data used to give life to Silla will be based on environmental statistics, obtained amongst other by the World Meteorological Organization and the statistics department of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation.

Silla has two goals. On one hand, the project wants to bring attention on environmental questions through a reflexive interpretation, making visible aspects of the environmental and urban landscape’s evolution. These statistics will be displayed on the interface guiding the most curious visitors within the installations‘ space, but as well out of it through media platforms of the collective. Lastly, these informations will be adapted to the geographical location of the current exhibition, as well as to latest news.

On the other hand, the interaction between the public and the highly immersive installation is a symbol for the impact an individual – as well as the collectivity – has on his environment. It questions our responsibility and our lucidity. With Silla, the artists of the collective seek to inspire a positive and responsible attitude as well as curiosity toward our living environment.

The installation is intended for a large public, but with an accent on the younger generation who will likely be confronted to deep questions about environmental issues and the way a society is made up.
